James I:
- Ruled from 1603 to 1625
- Ascended the Scottish throne when his mother died.
- He was Protestant
- He had a negative impact on England because he took little time to understand English customs and had a large amount of financial problems that he didn't know how to deal with.
- His personality was decribed as witty, well-read, and strongly believed in devine right, but had trouble gaining the acceptance of England.
- He was most known for being strong towrds absolutism and his conflicts with an "increasingly self-assertive " Parliament which led people to rebel against his succesor, Charles I.
